Processes, Jigs and Tools in Forming Technology

FSI-HNA Acad. year: 2026/2027 Winter semester

Technological preparation of production as an integral component of the technological process of forming. Application of material heating before and after forming. The course deals with the following topics: Types of forming tools for rolling, drawing, bending, deep drawing, extrusion, forging. The course focuses also on design of tool elements including materials for tools.

- Technological process of manufacturing semi-finished products and products by volume and surface forming.
- Technological process of manufacturing by hot and cold volume and surface forming.
- Technological process of manufacturing extruded components.
- Manufacturing of forgings by open die and closed die forging.
- Technological process of heat treatment.
- Classification of forming tools, design procedure.
- Production machines for surface and volume forming technologies.
- Tools for conventional cutting and precision cutting.
- Tools for bending and deep drawing.
- Tools for forward and backward extrusion.
- Tools for hot forming – forging on presses and hammers.
- Tools for trimming forgings.
- Tool materials.
