The exam examines the knowledge of the development of the visual arts of the period, the relationships and the connections with the previous development and continuity at present. The exam: written test. According to the article No. 13 of Study and Examination Rules of Brno University of Technology ECTS evaluation degree scale is used. The course is evaluated with the following grades: ECTS EVALUATION DEGREES / PTS. RATING / NUMERIC RATING: A / 100 – 90 / 1 / Excellent; B /89 – 80 / 1,5 / Very good; C / 79 – 70 / 2 / Good; D / 69 – 60 / Satisfactory; E / 59 – 50 / Sufficient; F / 49 – 0 / 4 / Failed.
The attendance at lectures is recommended.

Syllabus
- Art of the first half of the 19th century – neoclassicism, empire, romanticism and realism.
- Art of the first half of the 19th century – Czech art of the 19th century, distinctive personalities.
- Art of the second half of the 19th century – the Arts and Crafts movement, the official art, Impressionism, Post-Impressionism, – Symbolism and Art Nouveau.
- Art of the first half of the 20th century – avant-garde orientations of the early 20th century (fauvism, expressionism, cubism, futurism and metaphysical painting, abstract art).
- Art of the first half of the 20th century – the interwar period (dadaism, surrealism, Bauhaus).
- Art after II. St. war (action painting, op-art, pop-art, conceptual art, postmodern).
- Development of architecture of the first half of the 20th century.
- Development of sculpture of the 20th century, photographs of the 20th century, the latest trends in fine arts and architecture.
