Course detail
Practical Materials Engineering on Industrial Artefacts
FSI-0MI Acad. year: 2026/2027 Winter semester
The seminar offers an insight in materials engineering bachelor thesis topics. Students learn how to apply basic principles of material science on the results they can see on samples prepared by classical materials engineering approaches.

Prerequisites
Knowledge of material science, mathematics, chemistry and physics on the first year level is expected.
Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes
Language of instruction
Czech
Aims
The aim of the course is to introduce second-year students to current research and application areas of materials engineering through thematic seminars focused on the presentation of bachelor’s thesis topics carried out at the Institute of Materials Engineering.
The course enables students to gain a deeper understanding of practical and research aspects of materials engineering and to connect theoretical knowledge from core courses with its application in specific research topics.
Part of the instruction includes visits to the laboratories of the Institute of Materials Engineering, where students become familiar with the experimental facilities, analytical and characterization methods, and their relevance to ongoing research projects and bachelor’s thesis work.
