Efforts aimed at a more environment-friendly attitude of enterprises leads both to pressure on the enterprises from outside and to own initiatives of the enterprises. Everyday practice shows nevertheless that it is economic motives that prevail together with general conviction that the protection of environment from impacts of corporate activities is increasing costs. There are methods of corporate management making their way since recently that introduce environmental point of view into the decision-making process at a same level as that of other points of view: entrepreneurial, production, developmental, commercial, etc.

Úsilí o šetrnější přístup podniků k životnímu prostředí vede jednak k vnějšímu nátlaku na podniky, jednak k iniciativám podniků samotných. V každodenní podnikové praxi nicméně převládají motivy ekonomické a všeobecné přesvědčení, že ochrana životního prostředí před podnikovou činností zvyšuje náklady. V současné době se prosazují metody řízení podniků, které do rozhodovacího procesu vnášejí environmentální hledisko na stejné úrovni jako jsou hlediska ostatní: podnikatelské, výrobní, rozvojové, obchodní atd.
