Original abstract
Wire electrical discharge machining (WEDM) is a widely used process in manufacturing industries when precision machining of all types of conductive materials is needed. In the WEDM process the material is removed by a series of rapidly recurring current discharges between two electrodes, separated by a dielectric liquid and subject to an electric voltage. The paper's aim is to choose significant WEDM process parameters by means of statistical experiment. Furthermore, we derived the mathematical model for calculation of number of wire breaks with dependency of significant process parameters. The parameters of the model are obtained by simple genetic algorithms.
