Darem a zároveň jistým prokletím odborníků pohybujících se v oblasti výrobních strojů je, že vedle přírodních věd se zároveň nemohou vyhýbat užití věd společenských – rozsah a obsah prováděných výpočtů v tomto oboru je obrovský. Kniha se věnuje obráběcím strojům především z technické stránky, a tedy i o analytických výpočtech je pojednáno zejména z pohledu technika – tvůrce a uživatele dílčích komponent, tvůrce stroje, jeho uživatele či studenta tohoto oboru.
