Original abstract

In this paper the influence of annealing temperature on selected microstructural characteristics of fine-grained magnesium alloy AZ91 was studied. The changes in ratio between low angle boundaries (LAB) and high angle boundaries (HAB), kernel average misorientation (KAM) parameter and changes in average grain size during isochronal annealing (30 minutes) were analyzed. It was found that average grain size remains almost unchanged bellow 350 °C. Temperature increase above 350 °C led to substantial grain coarsening. During thermal exposure at any temperature changes in ratio between LAB and HAB and also in KAM parameter was found. It was found that these changes are rather dependent on the nature of initial microstructure than on annealing temperature level.
