Original abstract
A new experimental device for testing and design of cooling units for control cooling of tubes was developed at the Brno University of Technology. This device can provide detailed information about the distribution of cooling intensity (heat transfer coefficient and heat flux) on the surface of a moving tube which is sprayed by nozzles. The hot test tube (maximum used diameter is currently 300 mm) is moving through cylindrical cooling zones equipped with nozzles and the cooling intensity is measured. The device is primarily used for the design of spray cooling units; the following parameters are typically studied: type of nozzles, feeding pressure, geometrical distribution of the nozzles, and influence of the velocity of the tube passing through the unit. The paper is describing the device and also is presenting the results of the experiments performed within parametric cooling study.
