Original abstract
The paper contains analysis of tool life when drilling and milling a glass fibre reinforced plastic. The tool life is evaluated in connection with cutting force components (drilling: Fx – axial direction, Mk – torque; milling: Fx – in direction of cutting and feed speed. Fy – in direction of working engagement of cutting edge). A special PC-software and statistical assessment are used for evaluation of the force components with respect to an influence of cutting conditions, tool material (high speed steels, sintered carbides), tool geometry, tool wear and orientation of the fibres.
