Original abstract

It is a design of magnetorheological (MR) damperer of secondary vertical suspension with a short response time. The expansion chamber of this damper is located externally due to the required installation of the damper into the Škoda Interpanter railway unit. The piston geometry of this damper was designed based on magnetic and hydraulic simulations. The required reaction times were obtained from the dynamic model of the vehicle. The damper piston is composed of a magnetic circuit and an electromagnetic coil. The damper's short reaction time is ensured by the special design of the shock absorber piston's magnetic circuit, which contains grooves oriented perpendicular to the direction of the magnetic flux. The force response time of this damper reaches a value of around 8 ms, which is sufficient for effective semi-active regulation. The structure of the damper also includes a position and acceleration sensor, which serves as feedback for regulation. The damper was developed for hardware tests in the loop and for driving tests verifying the functionality of the semi-active damper control.
