Original abstract

The plastic deformation of metals and plastic materials is a complex dynamic process which depends on numerous factors, especially on strain rate and temperatur. The Split Hopkinson Pressure Bar Test (SHPBT) and Taylor Anvil Test (TAT) are used to evaluate the dynamic process of the forming technology. The SHPBT is suitable for higher strain rates, where inertia, propagation of elastic waves, and mechanical resonance play an important role. We can obtain straight an evaluation of the necessary dependence relations: stress strain and strain rate, strain curve.
