Original abstract

The ageing phenomenon of equipment, organisations and information is still a problem for safety of our society and represents a significant risk factor in the prevention of major accidents. This paper tries to verify how the ageing phenomenon is a significant factor in the root causes of major accidents in the Czech Republic. The aim of this article is to describe and analyse the approach to learning from major accidents using the example of accidents in the Czech Republic caused by the phenomenon of ageing in individual companies that occurred and were reported in the period 2000 – 2024.
