Original abstract

This study focuses on the experimental investigation of pressure drop in liquid flow through polymeric hollow fibers, aiming to develop a fast and reliable methodology for evaluating pressure losses under different operating conditions. Measurements were performed using polyamide, polypropylene, and polyether ether ketone fibers to analyze the influence of flow velocity and temperature. Results show that the Darcy friction factor obtained experimentally deviates by less than 10% from theoretical predictions, confirming the applicability of classical models for laminar and transitional regimes in polymeric fibers. The experimental setup also enables assessment of material quality by comparing measured and theoretical values of pressure drop. These findings contribute to improving the design of lightweight, corrosion-resistant polymeric heat exchangers.
