Original abstract

This paper addresses the issue of input data for life cycle assessment (LCA) of passenger cars with internal combustion engines. The aim of this study is to present a detailed material inventory of a typical representative of this vehicle category, based on the physical dismantling of a Škoda Octavia Combi III 1.8 TSI. The methodology involved the complete disassembly of the vehicle, identification, and weighing of individual components and materials. The result is a detailed list of materials, including their weights and percentage representation in the total weight of the vehicle (inventoried weight 1290.15 kg). Dominant materials include ferrous metals, aluminium, and various types of plastics. The presented data provide a specific and up-to-date set of input data that can significantly contribute to the accuracy of LCA studies in the automotive industry and better reflect the material composition of current vehicles, which is crucial for a more accurate assessment of environmental impacts.
