Original abstract
This article specifically focuses on the machining of composite materials reinforced with flax fibres, with the aim of identifying the main factors influencing the cutting process and the quality of the machined surface. The results revealed that the tool geometry featured the main factor affecting the vibrations and burr formation when machining of composite materials. Series of experiments unveiled that the tool with the helix angle of 7° and a higher number of cutting edges achieved the best results across most measured parameters such as burr formation. In contrast, the end mill with the helix angle of 45° exhibited the worse results in case of burr formation compared to the helix angle 7°.
