Original abstract
High-cycle fatigue/creep behaviour of cast nickel base superalloy IN713LC was experimentally examined at 800 C in air. Experiments were aimed on determination of cyclic creep rate, time to fracture, kind and mode of damage. An attempt has been made to explain the cyclic creep behaviour by a balance between an effect of decrease of plastic strain response with increasing strain rate in a loading cycle and an accelerating effect of the cyclic plasticity on the development of unidirectional plastic strain. Three types of fatigue crack initiation were observed: long crystallographic Stage I surface initiation, internal crystallographic initiation related to structural defects and initiation on defect followed by Stage II crack propagation.
