Original abstract
The problem of transferability of fracture mechanics parameters measured in laboratory on arc-shape specimen to real pipes is investigated in this paper. For this purpose the two-parameter description of crack behavior is used. The relevant numerical model based on the finite element method was used to calculate stress intensity factor K and T-stress as a function of the crack length for a both arc-shaped specimen and two-layer pipe. The applicability of the arc-shaped specimen for estimation of fracture mechanics parameters of HDPE material and their transferability to pipes are discussed. The results obtained contribute to reliability of pipes system.
