Original abstract

An in-house 3D numerical model is capable of simulating the temperature field of a slab caster. The 3D numerical model simulating the temperature field of a concast slab is used for optimization secondary cooling, casting speed, superheat temperature etc. The temperature field in the concasting is determined via the transient 3D enthalpy balance equation with the Finite Difference Method, which is optimised for running on multiprocessor computers. The model presented here serves for optimal set parameters of the casting speed and cooling strategy inside the slab caster.
