Original abstract
For obtaining a "pure" Fe-C-Si-Me melt the reduction of oxides with carbon in vacuum was suggested. The experiment aimed at studying the change of chemical composition of molten cast iron during holding it on temperature in vacuum, change of oxygen and nitrogen contents during vacuumizing. Influence of different vacuumizing parameters on graphite morphology was further on studied on metallographic samples as well as composition of inclusions found out in cast iron. Cast iron was melted in a crucible from chemically pure aluminium oxide; in a contact point of metal and the crucible the lining was made without use of any binders.
