Original abstract

The article deals with a combined jet and exhaust flow as generated by an Aaberg exhaust hood and its interaction with the obstacle. The obstacle was a disc aligned with the jet flow and located coaxially to the jet. The diameter of the disc was 550 mm. The air terminal dimensions were: supply slot diameter 200 mm and supply slot width 4 mm. Two operation modes were tested. First, jet only flow at 10 m/s of the exit jet velocity. Second, combined flow mode at which the exhaust velocity was set to 9.13 m/s, keeping the jet exit velocity fixed. The hood operational parameter I was thus 0.6. The obstacle surface roughness was varied by means of sand paper to map the hysteretic jet behaviour when moving the obstacle towards or away from the air terminal.
