Original abstract

Recommendation G.722 describes the potentials of encoding and decoding audio signals with 50-7000 Hz bandwidth using SB-ADPCM (Sub-Band Adaptive Differential Pulse Code Modulation). Thus a bit rate compression is accomplished. Utilization for ISDN, DECT and CT2 cordless phones and other applications is assumed. The paper gives the basic G.722 recommendation modes and the principles of SB-ADPCM encoder and decoder including theoretical equations and problem algorithmization theory. The simulation of G.722 codec is performed by the Matlab software. Examples of the testing signals passing through the designed codec are shown. In conclusion the results are discussed.
