Original abstract

Fatigue strength of ultra fine-grained copper prepared by equal channel angular pressing has been experimentally studied. It has been found that the fatigue strength in high cycle region and the endurance limit are strongly influenced by both the details of equal angular pressing procedure and the purity of copper. However, the effect of the above mentioned factors on the fatigue strength in low-cycle region is negligible. The ultra fine-grained microstructure has been revealed by optical metallography. The Vickers hardness before and after fatigue was correlated with the cyclic stress-strain response.
