Original abstract
Remelting of the process scrap of Hadfield cast steel containing 12-13% of manganese and 1,2-1,3% of carbon in electric arc furnaces leads to gradual increasing of the content of gases, expecially hydrogen and nitrogen. It causes a risk of appearing of blowholes in castings. In order to elaborate the technology of melting Hadfield steel in basic electric arc furnaces, thermodynamic data for this process have been set up. Then two series of melts (A and B) were carried out. They differed from each other in the amount of the process scrap of Hadfield cast steel in the charge and also in different parameters of blowing oxygen and carrying out the refining process.
