Original abstract
The activity of the research team from the Institute of Physical Engineering is focused on the support of special teams in modelling and testing physical properties of shape memory alloys for linear actuator of the Stewart platform, selection and testing of material properties for Stirling- and electrical engine as well as for actuators. During the first year of the research, the following results were achieved: ab initio calculations of the crystal energy of various lattice structures of Nitinol as functions of their atomic volume and mutual interplanar shifts, proposal of unique experimental device for testing mechanical properties of Nitinol alloys, new theory of roughness-induced crack closure in metals and testing of the method based on optical chromatography for three-dimensional reconstruction of surface roughness micromorphology.
