U osobních automobilů se lze setkat s hlukovým projevem, který souvisí s vůlemi v oblasti diferenciálu převodovky. Experimenty na reálném vozidle s sebou nesou řadu problémů, především hluk pozadí (pohonného agregátu, výfuku apod.) převyšuje hladinu hluku sledovaného objektu, což znemožňuje použití standardních měřících postupů. Je nutné oddělené měření mimo vozidlo s jiným zdrojem buzení než je spalovací motor. Experimentální skříň diferenciálu umožňuje jeho funkci bez ostatních komponentů rozměrné převodové skříně. Základem převodovky je funkční diferenciál, který je instalován do odlehčené zkušební experimentální skříně.

In passenger car, there is a noise phenomenon, which is related to clearances in automotive differential. The experiments with real vehicle are connected with particular problems. The noise of a background (engine-gearbox assembly, exhaust system etc.) exceeded the level of the noise of the examined object and therefore standard measuring methods could not be used. There is necessary to conduct the experiment within the real vehicle and with another excitation source than is combustion engine. The experimental box is able to operate differential without another components of the large real gearbox. The essence of experimental gearbox is real differential which is placed into the lightened case.
