Original abstract
Paper presents an experimental study of straight cavitating vortex tube, which develops in converging-diverging nozzle. Considerably long compact cavitating structure is developed by fixed blade axial swirl generator. LDV measurements of the velocity field revealed that the circumferential velocity profile prior appearance of huge cavitating vortex tube is of the Lamb vortex type with pronounced rotational core. Its radial extent is about 17% of the converging-diverging nozzle throat. Spectral content of the LDV signal and flow visualizations indicate twisting and pulsations of the vortex tube, especially in the diffuser part of the nozzle.
