[nazev_orig] => Comparison of Faults Classification in Vibrodiagnostics from Time and Frequency Domain Data
[duvernost_udaju_id] => S
[popis] => The paper deals with the comparison of the success rate of classification models from Matlab Classification Learner app. Classification models will compare data from the frequency and time domain, the data source is the same. Both data samples are from real measurements on the vibrodiagnostics model. Five basic faults are recognized, namely, the static unbalances at two levels, the dynamic unbalances at two levels and the faultless state. The data is then processed and reduced for the use of the Matlab Classification Learner app, which creates a model for recognizing faults. The aim of the paper is to compare the success rate of classification models when the data source is dataset in time or frequency domain.

[popis] => This paper deals with a project of Automatic Bird Species Recognition Based on Bird Vocalization. Eighteen bird
species of 6 different families were analyzed. At first, human factor cepstral coefficients representing the given
signal were calculated from particular recordings. In the next phase, using the voice activity detection system,
segments of bird vocalizations were detected from which a likelihood rate, with which the given code value
corresponds to the given model, was calculated using individual hidden Markov models. For each bird species, just one respective hidden Markov model was trained. The interspecific success of 81.2% has been reached. For
classification into families, the success has reached 90.45%.

[nazev] => Waste processing facility location problem by stochastic programming: Models and solutions
[nazev_orig] => Waste processing facility location problem by stochastic programming: Models and solutions
[duvernost_udaju_id] => S
[popis] => The paper deals with the so-called waste processing facility location problem (FLP), which asks for establishing a set of operational waste processing units, optimal against the total expected cost. We minimize the waste management (WM) expenditure of the waste producers, which is derived from the related waste processing, transportation, and investment costs. We use a stochastic programming approach in recognition of the inherent uncertainties in this area. Two relevant models are presented and discussed in the paper. Initially, we extend the common transportation network flow model with on-and-off waste-processing capacities in selected nodes, representing the facility location. Subsequently, we model the randomly-varying production of waste by a scenario-based two-stage stochastic integer linear program. Finally, we employ selected pricing ideas from revenue management to model the behavior of the waste producers, who we assume to be environmentally friendly. The modeling ideas are illustrated on an example of limited size solved in GAMS. Computations on larger instances were realized with traditional and heuristic algorithms, implemented within MATLAB.

[nazev_en] => Waste processing facility location problem by stochastic programming: Models and solutions
[popis_en] => The paper deals with the so-called waste processing facility location problem (FLP), which asks for establishing a set of operational waste processing units, optimal against the total expected cost.

[popis] => White-nose syndrome (WNS) is a fungal disease caused by Pseudogymnoascus destructans that is devastating to Nearctic bat populations but tolerated by Palearctic bats. Temperature is a factor known to be important for fungal growth and bat choice of hibernation. Here we investigated the effect of temperature on the pathogenic fungal growth in the wild across the Palearctic. We modelled body surface temperature of bats with respect to fungal infection intensity and disease severity and were able to relate this to the mean annual surface temperature at the site. Bats that hibernated at lower temperatures had less fungal growth and fewer skin lesions on their wings. Contrary to expectation derived from laboratory P. destructans culture experiments, natural infection intensity peaked between 5 and 6 degrees C and decreased at warmer hibernating temperature. We made predictive maps based on bat species distributions, temperature and infection intensity and disease severity data to determine not only where P. destructans will be found but also where the infection will be invasive to bats across the Palearctic. Together these data highlight the mechanistic model of the interplay between environmental and biological factors, which determine progression in a wildlife disease.

[nazev_en] => Example of utilization of machine learning in vibrodiagnostics
[popis_en] => The article deals with the possibility of using machine learning in vibrodiagnostics to determine the type of fault of rotating machine. The data source are real measured data from the vibrodiagnostic model, this model allows simulation of some types of faults.. The data is then processed and reduced for the use of the Matlab Classification learner app, which creates a model for recognizing faults. The model is ultimately tested on a new sample of data. The aim of the article is to verify the ability to recognize similarly rotary machine faults from real measurements in time domain.

[popis] => Where microbes colonizing skin surface may help maintain organism homeostasis, those that invade living skin layers cause disease. In bats, white-nose syndrome is a fungal skin infection that affects animals during hibernation and may lead to mortality in severe cases. Here, we inferred the amount of fungus that had invaded skin tissue of diseased animals. We used simulations to estimate the unobserved disease severity in a non-lethal wing punch biopsy and to relate the simulated pathology to the measured fungal load in paired biopsies. We found that a single white-nose syndrome skin lesion packed with spores and hyphae of the causative agent, Pseudogymnoascus destructans, contains 48.93 pg of the pathogen DNA, which amounts to about 1560 P destructans genomes in one skin lesion. Relating the information to the known UV fluorescence in Nearctic and Palearctic bats shows that Nearctic bats carry about 1.7 mu g of fungal DNA per cm(2), whereas Palearctic bats have 0.04 g cm(-2) of P. destructans DNA. With the information on the fungal load that had invaded the host skin, the researchers can now calculate disease severity as a function of invasive fungal growth using non-destructive UV light transillumination of each bat's wing membranes. Our results will enable and promote thorough disease severity assessment in protected bat species without the need for extensive animal and laboratory labor sacrifices.

[duvernost_udaju_id] => S
[popis] => Grayscale conversion is a popular operation performed within image pre-processing of many computer vision systems, including systems aimed at generic object categorization. The grayscale conversion is a lossy operation. As such, it can significantly influence performance of the systems. For generic object categorization tasks, a weighted means grayscale conversion proved to be appropriate. It allows full use of the grayscale conversion potential due to weighting coefficients introduced by this conversion method. To reach a desired performance of an object categorization system, the weighting coefficients must be optimally setup. We demonstrate that a search for an optimal setting of the system must be carried out in a cooperation with an expert. To simplify the expert involvement in the optimization process, we propose a WEighting Coefficients Impact Assessment (WECIA) graph. The WECIA graph displays dependence of classification performance on setting of the weighting coefficients for one particular setting of remaining adjustable parameters. We point out a fact that an expert analysis of the dependence using the WECIA graph allows identification of settings leading to undesirable performance of an assessed system.

[nazev_en] => WECIA Graph: Visualization of Classification Performance Dependency on Grayscale Conversion Setting
[popis_en] => Grayscale conversion is a popular operation performed within image pre-processing of many computer vision systems, including systems aimed at generic object categorization.

[popis] => In this paper we describe a real-world large-scale stochastic integer waste-management decision making problem. The problem consists of choosing the optimal locations and capacities of new incineration plants, that will be used for the disposal of waste. To solve this problem, we implement a modied version of the progressive hedging algorithm. The presented case study with real-world data concerns the situation in the Czech Republic.
