This work presents the design, manufacturing, and testing of a compact polymeric hollow fiber heat exchanger (PHFHE) optimized for automated production and lightweight applications. The proposed concept utilizes six layers of parallel polypropylene fibers integrated into injection-molded plastic frames, enabling precise positioning and leak-proof fixation without additional sealing. The modular design supports automated assembly, ensuring structural stability under pressures up to 5 bar and temperatures up to 120 °C. Experimental tests conducted in a calorimetric circuit confirmed thermal power between 0.8 kW and 1.7 kW, depending on airflow (2–10 m/s) and fluid flow rate (6–30 L/min). The results demonstrate that PHFHEs can achieve competitive thermal performance while significantly reducing system weight and simplifying large-scale manufacturability. These findings highlight their potential for automotive and industrial thermal management systems.
