4-WP08-003 The functional specimen, with the full code name TN02000054/004-V38 4-WP08-003 (ZV), is built and experimentally verified functional sample supported by extensive simulations, demonstrates the possibility of synergy of parts and subassemblies of a naturally aspirated internal-combustion engine including MPI system with a belt connected electric rotating machine in a unique P0 configuration characterized by reduced production costs compared to serial power units. This combination reduces CO2 emissions in the driving cycle compared to the internal-combustion engine alone. To further reduce CO2 emissions, the possibility of selective cylinder deactivation of the ICE has also been verified, which, however, entails higher noise and torsional and axial vibrations of the power train. For this reason, the positive benefit of torque smoothing using an electric torque machine operating in dynamic mode on NVH has also been tested and verified. Such a power train is not yet available from any global manufacturer. The functional sample also demonstrated that even in the torque smoothing mode, the power train does not suffer from excessive load that would limit the fatigue life of the parts used.
