This workshop is hosted by the town of Abtenau, a typical Austrian mountain village. Tourism is one of the biggest economical sectors in Austria. Managing crowds and offering user experience while still preserving the sensitive surroundings of the alps by sustainable concepts are crucial to touristic areas. Hence we will look deeper into the possibilities of bringing all those urges together through smart and sophisticated design. To better understand the task and the location, the first half of this workshop will be held in Abtenau. Here you can experience hands on the spots that need to be designed as well as the stunning view of – hopefully snowy – mountains. The interdisciplinary and international group of this workshop will shed light on this exciting and innovative topic from different perspectives. The online keynote and research in the respective home countries will lay the foundation for the interactive and analogue workshop part in mixed groups on site in Abtenau and Kuchl. Visions of sustainable, joyful and well managable touristic solutions are expected. Renderings and models will articulate the concepts and be available for further in-depth study of this important topic. We wish all participants a lot of fun, let‘s create a design vision which we would love to visit!
