Stirling engines, hot pumps, refrigeration and air-conditioning devices have become very popular for their ability to work with renewable energy resources. However, it is not easy to design, construct and realize those equipments, while present computing and design models of operating cycles of external heat supply engines arise from ideal theoretical cycles, which are known from basics of thermodynamics that are – for this purpose – modified by various methods. Parameters of these engines, realized on this principle, are generally by up to 10% lower than the calculated values. High-level design models, arising from the description of real processes, which run in external heat supply engines, are still not available. The paper describes basic principles of theoretical analysis of Stirling engines and informs about some activities of our research team.
