[nazev] => A Note on the Frequency Characteristics of Discrete Systems in the Complex Plane
[nazev_orig] => A Note on the Frequency Characteristics of Discrete Systems in the Complex Plane

[popis] => Frequency characteristics of discrete-time systems in the complex plane and in linear coordinates are used to design controllers (correction terms) by frequency methods, to determine stability by frequency stability criteria, to assess the dynamic properties and behavior of the discrete system with respect to the harmonic components of the input signal, and to design various filters. Therefore, their determination is of considerable importance and their mapping and compilation into comprehensive summaries from which their shape and waveform can be determined is not yet done for discrete systems. This part is the first aim of the paper. Furthermore, a comparison of the construction of frequency characteristics of continuous and discrete linear time-invariant (LTI) systems is made and their differences are highlighted. Also, a comparison is made between the shape and waveform of the frequency characteristics of continuous and discrete systems with formally similar transfer functions. This comparison showed a relatively high similarity, which could be used to determine the dynamical properties of these systems. From the comparison of the constructions can also be seen how difficult it is to construct discrete versus continuous characteristics.

[nazev_orig] => Stabilization of Higher Periodic Orbits of Chaotic maps using Permutation-selective Objective Function
[duvernost_udaju_id] => S
[popis] => This paper deals with the design of an advanced objective function capable of proper evaluation of the solutions during the process of chaotic trajectory stabilisation into stable periodic motion by means of evolutionary metaheuristic optimization. The challenging problem of stabilisation of chaotic systems generates many unexpected difficulties. One of them is the evaluation of a sample stabilized run during optimization. Even more so, when the target state of the chaotic system is a stable cycle oscillating periodically between several target positions. In this study, a two-dimensional dynamical system, known as the Hénon map was used. The system is stabilized using Extended Time Delayed Auto Synchronization (ETDAS) method with Genetic Algorithm (GA) optimization. The solutions are evaluated by a permutation-selective objective function, which achieves significantly better results than conventional evaluation methods based on a common objective function.

[popis] => Advanced optimisation of the aerofoil wing of a general aircraft is the main subject of this paper. Meta-heuristic optimisation techniques, especially swarm algorithms, were used. Subsequently, a new variant denoted as aerofoil particle swarm optimisation (aPSO) was developed from the original particle swarm optimisation (PSO). A parametric model based on B-spline was used to optimise the initial aerofoil. The simulation software Xfoil was calculating basic aerodynamic features (lift, drag, moment).

[popis] => This contribution puts focus on a command line tool, which enables detection and analysis of overlapping regions between G-quadruplexes, R-loops and genome annotations for selected genomes. G-quadruplexes and R-loops are structures with high Guanine density, which is an important creation factor for both structures. Common regions (overlap) between both structures can provide us with better possibility to create precise model to detect R-loops and valuable insights when inspecting genome annotations with high R-loop density. The tool was used for multiple research projects and is under constant development bringing new features to the world of bioinformatics.

[popis] => The utilization of benchmarking techniques has a crucial role in the development of novel optimization algorithms, and also in performing comparisons between already existing methods. This is especially true in the field of evolutionary computation, where the theoretical performance of the method is difficult to analyze. For these benchmarking purposes, artificial (or synthetic) functions are currently the most widely used ones. In this paper, we present a collection of real-world robotics problems that can be used for benchmarking evolutionary computation methods.
The proposed benchmark problems are a combination of inverse kinematics and path planning in robotics that can be parameterized. We conducted an extensive numerical investigation that encompassed solving 200 benchmark problems by seven selected metaheuristic algorithms.
The results of this investigation showed that the proposed benchmark problems are quite difficult (multimodal and non-separable) and that they can be successfully used for differentiating and ranking various metaheuristics.

[nazev_en] => A collection of robotics problems for benchmarking evolutionary computation methods
[popis_en] => The utilization of benchmarking techniques has a crucial role in the development of novel optimization algorithms, and also in performing comparisons between already existing methods.

[popis] => Electrical discharge machining (EDM) is an unconventional machining technology. It is commonly used in toolrooms to remove the material of the workpiece which in turn gains a negative shape of the electrode – the tool.In order to monitor and model the responses in the form of eroding rate and surface quality, a two-level half-factor experiment was performed with one replication at the corner points and two replications at the central points, for a total of 80 rounds. Both graphite and copper electrodes of sizes 10x10 mm and 100x100 mm were used for eroding and the influence of parameter settings: Open-voltage, Pulse current, Pulse on-time and Pulse off-time was monitored. It was foundthat the shape of the electrode and Pulse current have the most significant effect on the erosion rate. The parameters Pulse current, Pulse on-time and their mutual interaction significantly affect the surface roughness. Statistically significant factors influencing the occurrence of defects turned out to be Pulse current, Pulse on-time and Material of workpiece, where it can be seen that the material 1.2343ESR is significantly less prone to the formation of surface defects.

[popis] => The graph colouring problem is one of the most studied combinatorial optimisation problems, one with many applications, e. g., in timetabling, resource assignment, team-building problems, network analysis, and cartography. Because of its NP-hardness, the question arises of its solvability for larger instances. Instead of the traditional approaches based on the use of approximate or stochastic heuristic methods, we focus here on the direct use of an integer programming model in the GAMS environment. This environment makes it possible to solve instances much larger than in the past. Neither does it require complex parameter settings or statistical evaluation of the results as in the case of stochastic heuristics because the computational core of software tools, nested in GAMS, is deterministic in nature.

[nazev_en] => Integer Programming Approach to Graph Colouring Problem and Its Implementation in GAMS
[popis_en] => The graph colouring problem is one of the most studied combinatorial optimisation problems, one with many applications, e. g., in timetabling, resource assignment, team-building problems, network analysis, and cartography.

[popis] => Over a year ago, an online collection called DIRECTGOLib was launched. It stands for DIRECT Global Optimization test problems Library. It offered a range of box-, generally-constrained, and engineering test problems for global optimization without derivatives. Since then, it has experienced significant growth and development.
Now, we present DIRECTGOLib v2.0, an updated version that builds upon the success of its predecessor, DIRECTGOLib v1.x. This latest iteration incorporates extensive expansion and restructuring efforts to ensure improved representation and better alignment with the current demands of testing global optimization algorithms.

[popis] => Noncanonical secondary structures in nucleic acids have been studied intensively in recent years. Important biological roles of cruciform structures formed by inverted repeats (IRs) have been demonstrated in diverse organisms, including humans. Using Palindrome analyser, we analyzed IRs in all accessible bacterial genome sequences to determine their frequencies, lengths, and localizations. IR sequences were identified in all species, but their frequencies differed significantly across various evolutionary groups. We detected 242,373,717 IRs in all 1,565 bacterial genomes. The highest mean IR frequency was detected in the Tenericutes (61.89 IRs/kbp) and the lowest mean frequency was found in the Alphaproteobacteria (27.08 IRs/kbp). IRs were abundant near genes and around regulatory, tRNA, transfer-messenger RNA (tmRNA), and rRNA regions, pointing to the importance of IRs in such basic cellular processes as genome maintenance, DNA replication, and transcription. Moreover, we found that organisms with high IR frequencies were more likely to be endosymbiotic, antibiotic producing, or pathogenic. On the other hand, those with low IR frequencies were far more likely to be thermophilic. This first comprehensive analysis of IRs in all available bacterial genomes demonstrates their genomic ubiquity, nonrandom distribution, and enrichment in genomic regulatory regions.IMPORTANCE Our manuscript reports for the first time a complete analysis of inverted repeats in all fully sequenced bacterial genomes. Thanks to the availability of unique computational resources, we were able to statistically evaluate the presence and localization of these important regulatory sequences in bacterial genomes. This work revealed a strong abundance of these sequences in regulatory regions and provides researchers with a valuable tool for their manipulation. [nazev_en] => A device for clamping a workpiece during wire electrical discharge machining and an assembly with this device
[popis_en] => The present invention relates to a workpiece clamping system to ensure its firm anchoring in many places on the work table during machining on a wire electrical discharge machine (WEDM). This anchoring is justified for circular workpieces with a diameter of over 200 mm. As a result of the large residual stresses that arise during WEDM, the workpieces often crack, causing them to be completely degraded or have to be repaired. The present invention in the form of a clamping system prevents deformation and subsequent cracking of machined parts.
