[popis] => This paper deals with piezoelectric strain measurement for rail monitoring applications. Piezoelectric materials under mechanical load generate electric charge and thus provide active voltage response. Mechanical parts with piezoelectric sensing layers could provide electrical signal which is proportional with mechanical loads and vibration. Presented piezoelectric system in the form of a macro fiber composite (MFC) or polymer polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) could be used for monitoring applications. A lab application shows the potential of these sensors and the piezoelectric response is compared with the strain gauge measurement. A real application on a regional track is proposed and the piezoelectric patch is integrated on the rail. Analysis of the obtained voltage signal is compared with the traditional acceleration analysis. Proposed solution provides an affordable sensing system which could monitor and detect system wear or maximal deformation under operation.

[popis] => In the world of nonlinear dynamics, it is necessary to consider the fact that a small change of input parameter can cause large changes in results. However, several methods deal with uncertainty. This paper compares two methods for uncertainty analysis, polynomial chaos expansion, and Monte Carlo method. The analysis was performed on the structure of the machine tool slide. The two main components - linear roller guideway with preload and linear ball screw, they both present with the nonlinear characteristic. The stiffness of these components is dependent on the deformation as well as the direction of load. The results of both methods match reasonably in a stable condition. For the unstable machining should be surrogated model improve for further analysis. The main advantage of PCE is a shorter computation time in contrast to time-consuming MC. This approach enables not only the stimulation of the machining process in local conditions but in the future, it might be also extended for the analysis of machine tool stability in the full condition range.

[popis] => Wheeled mobile robots in multiple stories buildings have to use elevator to access arbitrary floor of the building. To do so, the control system must be able to detect and access elevator controls and also determine on which floor the elevator stopped. The paper deals with the latter problem, using the fusion of relative floor change detected by onboard accelerometer and absolute floor number detected by the processing of elevator information screen panel image acquired by onboard camera. Bayesian filter is used for data fusion and convolution neural network for image processing. Field tests resulted in 97% correct detection.

[popis] => In the paper the drill-hole method for establishing residual stress in Al-castings is discussed. Using the FEM the calibration coefficients are established for the application of the integral method of determining residual stress. Residual stress at critical points of the casting across the wall thickness is analysed with the aid of an MTS 3000 device.

[nazev_orig] => Influence of Dents on Friction Surfaces on Thin Lubrication Films
[duvernost_udaju_id] => S
[popis] => Thin film colorimetric interferometry has been used to study the behaviour of an artificially produced roughness feature within lubricated contact. This technique provided accurate information about lubricant film thickness behaviour over a wide range of operating conditions. Lubricant film thickness distribution within the contact has been found to change
significantly as a function of a slide-roll ratio. In order to study the behaviour of the roughness features within lubricated contacts in more detail, an approach to the calculation of pressure distribution within point contact from experimentally evaluated film thickness is being developed and the first results are presented here.

[duvernost_udaju_id] => S
[popis] => At present the hip joint belongs to the most frequently solved segments of the human body. This paper deals with biomechanical problems of physiologically and pathologically developed hip joints of adult human. Numerous disorders of the hip joint are characterized by various deformities of the femoral head and acetabulum, which are a frequent cause of unfavourable mechanical conditions and decrease of moveability in the joint accompanied by pain. A lot of deformities of the hip joint can be treated with a suitable surgical interventions based on the improvement of improper mechanical conditions in the hip joint that result from modification and reconstruction of its geometry. For modelling of particular types of the surgical interventions on pathological hip joints (osteotomies, acetabuloplasty), it is necessary to analyse the behaviour of physiological and pathological hip joint. These problems have currently been a common subject of investigations carried out by the Institute of Solid Mechanics, Mechatronics and Biomechanics, FME BUT and First Orthopaedic Department, St. Anne's University Hospital in Brno. The aim of the work was to create and to analyse the computational models of the physiological and pathological hip joint using computational modelling based on the Finite Element Method (FEM) and ANSYS software system, and finally to compare the results from computational modelling with the results obtained from clinical practice.

[duvernost_udaju_id] => S
[popis] => This paper presents an experimental study of the influence of real surface micro-geometry on the film thickness in a circular elastohydrodynamic (EHD) contact formed between a real, random, rough surface of steel ball and smooth glass disc. The Phase Shifting Interferometry has been used to measure in situ initial undeformed rough surface profiles whereas Thin Film Colorimetric Interferometry has provided accurate information about micro EHD film thickness behavior over a wide range of rolling speed. Two real roughness features were studied in detail 56 nm high ridge and 90 nm deep groove, both transversely oriented to the direction of surface motion. It has been shown that ridge is heavily deformed in a loaded contact and its height increases with increasing rolling speed. The asperity tip film thickness behavior is quite similar to the contact average film thickness when the film thickness is higher than the undeformed ridge height. However below this limit the film is thicker than what the EHD theory predicts. For the groove, a local reduction in film thickness at the leading edge has been observed. When the groove is passing through the EHD conjunction, it maintains its undeformed shape. The behavior of both roughness features studied shows good agreement with previous experimental observations conducted using artificially-produced ridge and groove.

[nazev] => Effect of surface texturing on rolling contact fatigue within mixed lubricated non-conformal rolling/sliding contacts

[popis] => The rolling contact fatigue (RCF) life of highly loaded machine components is significantly influenced by the surface roughness features so that there is a continuous effort to design the topography of rubbing surfaces to enhance lubrication efficiency and prolong the operation of machine components. It can be suggested from the recent experimental results that lubricant emitted from shallow micro-dents could effectively lift off the real roughness features and reduce the asperities interactions within rolling/sliding mixed lubricated contacts. Thereby the additional supply of lubricant from surface features could help to reduce the risk of surface damage through the reduction of the interaction of rubbing surfaces during start-up or starvation. However, the introduction of such roughness features into the rubbing surfaces of highly loaded non-conformal contacts should consider not only the effects on lubrication film thickness but also on RCF.
That is why this study is focused on the effects of surface texturing on RCF within non-conformal rolling/sliding contacts operated under mixed lubrication conditions. The principal task has been whether possible beneficial effect on film thickness is not accompanied by the reduction in RCF life. Textures with various sizes of micro-dents and their arrangement within the contacts have been considered. It has been found that results obtained with textured surfaces have exhibited no obvious reduction in RCF. Conversely, some increase in RCF using textured surfaces was observed that could be attributed to the positive contribution of micro-dents working as lubricant micro-reservoirs that reduce asperities interactions. Nevertheless, further experiments are necessary to confirm this possible beneficial contribution of surface texturing on RCF.
