[popis] => In this paper we concentrate on prediction of future values based on the past course of that variable, traditionally these are solved using statistical analysis - first a time-series model is constructed and then statistical prediction algorithms are applied to it in order to obtain future values. This paper describes Radial Basis Functions (RBF) Neural Network and Two-level Grammatical Evolution. Both these methods are applied to solve prediction of simplified numerical time series. Sample dataset includes forty generated observations and the goal is to predict five future values.

[popis] => The paper discusses methods of recognition randomly deformed object. Initially, methods of syntactic analysis of non-deformed objects are described. Further, structural methods of recognition of randomly deformed objects are described, i.e. use of methods for determination of distance between attribute description of images and deformation grammar. At last, results of this method are evaulated.

[popis] => The following article deals with human thermal comfort dilemma. Firstly, the sensor for operative temperature evaluation and than synthetic skin type sensor will be introduced. There is no compact sensor on the market, which can measure operative temperature, so the effort is to develop this kind of sensor. It is necessary to measure more physical quantities, like air temperature, mean radiant temperature, air flow velocity and relative air velocity, to calculate operative temperature. Human thermal comfort does not depend only on environment conditions but also on personal factors, which are different for every human being. It's especially energy expenditure and human clothes thermal resistance.

[nazev] => Applying interferometry in researching convection heat transfer from panel radiators
[nazev_orig] => Applying interferometry in researching convection heat transfer from panel radiators
[duvernost_udaju_id] => S
[popis] => This article is concerned with interferometric research into temperature fields and heat transfer via laminar natural convection of a reduced model of panel radiators with the help of a Mach-Zehnder interferometer. Heat transfer is determined by the temperature derivative at the surface of the radiator walls evaluated by means of an interferometrically measured temperature field. This article deals with problems involved in applying the results of the measurement to an actual radiator and problems in determining the temperature derivative at higher wall surface temperatures, necessary to simulate heat transfer in an actual radiator. High surface temperatures complicate the evaluation of interferograms. A method for evaluating the temperature derivative in the case of higher wall temperatures is worked out in the article, based upon measuring the thickness of thermal boundary layers. The interferograms acquired are evaluated by computer with the use of specially developed software. The outcome of the research consists in relationships for the calculation of Nusselt numbers across the face of the panel radiator as well as in the slots between walls of double or triple panel radiators and suggestions for the optimal configuration of panel radiators to ensure maximal heat output.

[duvernost_udaju_id] => S
[popis] => Nowadays film thickness measurement techniques can provide precise data for the detailed studies of the behaviour of lubricated contacts including transient operational conditions. Contact pressure is in relation with deformation of rubbing surfaces, which can be derived from experimentally evaluated film thickness. Even though the pressure distribution evaluated from measured film thickness is very sensitive to its accuracy, this approach represents a powerful tool for elastohydrodynamic pressure determination thanks to the relative wide availability of film thickness measurement techniques. Chromatic interferograms can be captured within a few microseconds so that this approach seems to be promising in obtaining relevant pressure data even within non-smooth lubricated contacts. This paper presents the results of the effort to extend the applicability of the pressure-film thickness evaluation approach to the non-smooth surfaces. It was found that the main problem is to obtain the film thickness distribution within the whole contact including the inside portion of the deep surface features (e.g. dents). That is why the combination of film thickness data and undeformed dent topography was suggested to overcome these limitations. This approach was validated through the comparison with numerical solution using dented surface and was tested on selected dented contacts operated under thin film and very thin film lubrication conditions.

[popis] => In this work, typical problems of manufacturing-process scheduling, logical circuit design, network optimisation and robotics were described. We focused on problems of combinatorial nature or on those that can be reduced to problems of combinatorial optimization.
It was shown that, for small instances, deterministic methods such as the branch-and-bound method and, in a special case, the dynamic programming approach may also be used. On the other hand, due to NP-completeness, the branch-and-bound method and dynamic-programming approach are not efficient in solving these problems if they have a high number of input parameters because of the exponentially growing time in branch-and-bound method calculations and high memory requirements for static arrays in the dynamic-programming approach.
We verified that commercial software tools, such as GAMS, fail for large instances of these problems, too.
In these cases, we chose heuristic techniques, mainly stochastic heuristics (or metaheuristics) that define a general framework for computations and the user must find suitable problem-specific parameter settings and verify them using benchmarks. A genetic algorithm was found to work efficiently in many situations. It provides good results in a reasonable amount of time for hundreds of input parameters and tens of capacity constraints.
Finally, we showed that using stochastic heuristics need not be the only way of solving NP-complete problems and proposed approaches based on geometric data structures such as Delaunay triangulation and Voronoi diagrams. They were applied in network optimisation to find a minimal Euclidean Steiner tree and in robotics to plan trajectories of a moving object in a scene with obstacles. While being able to provide good approximations of the optimum, the proposed deterministic heuristics do not require so much tuning as stochastic heuristics and, moreover, they run in a polynomial time. Therefore they are also applicable in real time computation. Using generalised Voronoi diagrams gives an efficient tool for robot motion planning and generates smooth trajectories in a scene with movable obstacles.

[duvernost_udaju_id] => S
[popis] => The mobile robot path planning involves finding the shortest and least difficult path from a start to a goal position in a given environment without collisions with known obstacles. The main idea of case-based reasoning (CBR) is a presumption that similar tasks probably also have similar solutions. New tasks are solved by adapting old proved solutions of similar tasks to new conditions. Tasks and their solutions (cases) are stored in a case base.
The focal point of this paper is the proposition of a path planning method based on CBR combined with graph algorithms in the environment represented by a rectangular grid. On the basis of the experimental results obtained, it is possible to say that case-based reasoning can significantly save computation costs, particularly in large environments.

[popis] => In robot motion planning in a space with obstacles, the goal is to find a collision-free path of robot from the starting to the target position. There are many approaches depending on types of obstacles, dimensionality of the space and restrictions for robot movements. Among the most frequently used are roadmap methods (visibility graphs, Voronoi diagrams, rapidly exploring random trees) and methods based on cell decomposition. A common feature of all these methods is the generating of trajectories composed from line segments. In this paper, we will show that generalised Voronoi diagrams can be used for fast generation of smooth paths sufficiently distant from obstacles.
